Ciprian Oprișa received his PhD in Computer Science from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, in 2016, solving security problems through big data and machine learning techniques. He is also a Team Lead in the Antimalware Lab at Bitdefender, where he performs reverse engineering on malicious applications, develops new technologies for heuristic malware detection and for fighting network-based threats. His research interests include security, machine learning and algorithms.
Last year he successfully defended his PhD thesis, on the computer security topic of “Machine Learning Techniques for the Analysis and Detection of Malicious Software”
Topic of speech
Cyber security in homes and businesses. We will discuss new security threats, for both home users and businesses. The focus will be on the large attack surface exposed by more and more interconnected devices and on targeted attacks and APTs.
