Topic of speech
Trust is becoming the key currency between the business and its customer, and transparency is vital for building this trust in the digital environment. The emerging opportunities offered to individuals by new technologies, such as the Internet of Things, rely increasingly on the collection and processing of personal data. Authorities are stepping in, and by rules such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), due to come into force in May 2018, may be fostering trust as a matter of law.  The concepts of data protection by design and by default are meant to protect the rights of the consumers in a digital economy.
